Birthday Celebrations

This Friday (27th November) we will be having our first birthday celebration, this is for all of the children who have had a birthday during September, October and November. These children can come to school in their own clothes and the rest of the children will either come in their normal school uniform or PE kit if it is there usual PE day.

The children do not need to bring anything in for our celebration, school will provide a cupcake and candle for each birthday child and we have planned some games to play in our bubbles where the children will have the chance to win some sweets.

We have some banners to put up in all of our classrooms and we will play some party music to try and create a fun and exciting birthday atmosphere. We hope the children enjoy celebrating with their friends!

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me (mpkhargrave@sbcschools.org.uk)

Thank you

Mrs Hargrave

Maths week Rock out 2020

https://ttrockstars.com/page/mathsweekengland2020

As part of our commitment to make maths exciting and high profile in our school, this November we are taking part in a competition for Maths Week England. It’s called Rock Out 2020 and it’s all done online via play.ttrockstars.com.

For every correct answer to a multiplication or division question, your child will earn their class a point. The Times Tables Rock Stars platform will calculate the class average (the number of correct answers per pupil in the class who play during the competition hours). Winning classes in the school and in the country as a whole will be the ones with the highest average.

All game modes (Gig, Garage, Studio, etc.) will count but only from games played between 7.30am and 7.30pm on Monday 9th, Tuesday 10th, Wednesday 11th, Thursday 12th, Friday 13th and Saturday 14th.

In the spirit of the competition, please don’t play on their behalf but by all means encourage and support them to the extent that it doesn’t cause high stress levels or impact on family plans. We suggest a limit of half an hour a day outside school hours – some will play more, some will play less.

Thanks for your support and Rock out!

Mr Harvey

If you haven’t already please try to log on to seesaw today and take a look at the activities set. I would love to hear your child’s favourite pirate joke and see how many pirate words they can think of.

You can also upload work and photographs to show me what you have been getting up to at home.

I will be adding activities regularly so please keep checking.

If you have any problems please do not hesitate to email me for support.

Home learning update: Introducing Seesaw Year 1-6

We hope you and your families are keeping safe and well at this time. Staff are working daily to provide you with learning opportunities and we would like to enhance what we offer further and try to help you as parents.

We are introducing  Seesaw. Like lots of things, this is something new to us all and we would appreciate your support and patience with it. We understand that homeschooling alongside running the home and possibly working from home can be challenging. We just want you to have access to learning materials to use as best fits you and ultimately want the children to be safe and happy.

The first step: Could you please send your class teacher an email so they can send you your child’s unique home learning code.

When you have your unique code, you can log in on the seesaw app or online.

The Hub -Week 2

Good morning everyone,

I hope you have all enjoyed your weekend and are ready for week two of home learning.

In the packs I sent home, I included enough work for this week. Please continue to work through your packs. If you have any questions about the work please just drop me an email or even if you would like more work! As you complete work please send me a photograph, I would love to see how you are getting on. If you are completing other tasks not on the list of physically, please keep a note of what you have completed and when in your home learning book. There are so many different ways to learn!

I have noticed that some of you have been working online using the log ins I sent home. Please make sure you log on to Lexia daily and TT Rockstars to practise your times tables. I will keep checking to see how you are doing.

Today I would like to set you another challenge. Attached to this post are ideas for a scavenger hunt around the house. Either use the ones attached or create your own for someone else. Have fun, I would love to see pictures of your hunt too.

Again if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Even though we are apart for now, we are all still part of The Hub.

Reading challenge – The Hub

Good morning everyone,

I have another challenge for you today. As you know I love reading and finding a comfy spot to read in. My challenge for you today is to choose a favourite book to read and find the comfiest place you can to read.

You might squeeze down the side of the sofa, snuggle up in bed, make a den out of pillow and duvets. You can read on your own or with a family member.

Feel free to send me a photo or draw a picture in your book and write a sentence to say where you read.

Mrs Roberts
