PSHE

At Myton Park Primary School, we aim to develop in pupils a range of knowledge, skills and attributes which will help them to stay safe, be healthy and be ready for life’s opportunities.  Our whole curriculum is underpinned by our strapline, ‘Together, we nurture, inspire and achieve,’ alongside our ACORN values (ambition, community, opportunity, resilience, nurture)

PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) is also integral to all aspects of school life.  It is taught by the class teacher as a timetabled weekly lesson at the beginning of the week.  It is also taught in assemblies and across the school day, both responsive to need and as a link to other subjects.

School uses 1decision to support the delivery of our curriculum.  This is because it is adaptable to school and community needs and because, being interactive, it engages our pupils from a young age.  We want our children to be critical thinkers and able to justify their decisions.  1decision supports this by presenting scenarios for children to discuss with their peers and suggest appropriate next steps.

This curriculum focuses on:

  • Keeping/staying safe
  • Keeping/staying healthy
  • Relationships
  • Being responsible
  • Feelings and emotions
  • Computer safety
  • Our world
  • Fire safety
  • Hazard watch

There is clear knowledge and skills progression embedded in the curriculum and there are links to all statutory requirements for Relationships and Sex Education, for British Values, safeguarding and for teaching the protected characteristics.

Knowledge organisers detail key facts, vocabulary and learning outcomes.
