PE and Sport

Myton Park is an active member of the Stockton Schools Sports Partnership.

We are constantly striving to improve the delivery of PE lessons within our school by giving the children opportunities to try different sports. The emphasis on fun when learning within our PE lessons is evident to see through the children.

The profile of sport is further raised by our annual sports week which includes our competitive sports day. During this week, we have further opportunities for children to take part in different events, sports and enrichment activities. We also aim for all of our children to reach the national standard of 25m for swimming.

We believe in giving our children opportunities to compete against other schools within Stockton.  Myton Park regularly competes in a range of sporting competitions. These include basketball, netball, football, cricket, swimming, indoor athletics, tag rugby and cross country.

We have seen how sport can raise self-esteem and support children in becoming effective team members within and outside of a classroom. We embed a ‘Change4Life’ philosophy so that our children grown into a healthy lifestyle. Within PE and sport we encourage our children to display our 6 principles that include, teamwork, passion, determination, self-belief, honesty and respect.

We have our own sports crew made, up of a selection of year 6 pupils who help encourage sport throughout the school. They are our sports leaders that run sporting activities at lunchtimes to encourage children to get involved and have a go. They also help with the leadership of health and fitness week and other sporting events that take place throughout the year.
